Week 8 results

Well, I have some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that I gained a half a pound this week. The good news is that I am down 8 pounds overall, which averages out to 1 pound a week, which is my goal. So, I am on track to where I want to be. I just need to lose a pound this week...better kick it up a notch.

I did 6 miles yesterday outside. I had thought it was going to be a bit warmer. Luckily, I took my frustration of the .5 pound weight gain out on my run and completed the 6 miles without a problem.

After the first 4, I tried these Luna Moons.

Supposedly they are made for women. I have no idea what is special about them that they are made for women...I think it is just a marketing ploy. But, they did have a good flavor and kept the hunger away. My problem with the consistency. I had expected them to be chewy like a Gummi bear. They were VERY chewy...more like DOTS. It was actually hard to chew them and I was worried about losing a filling. When I ate them, they had been in my pocket for about 45 minutes in 30 degree temps...maybe they were frozen a bit?

I have been meaning to try the Clif Shot Bloks. Has anyone out there tried these? Are they hard to chew as well??

On another note, what does everyone think of my music? I have been thinking of taking it off? Do people find it annoying?? Please be honest...I can take it...I think.

We are getting just a little bit of snow today. It is only supposed to total an inch. My poor relatives on LI are getting 12 inches. It is supposed to warm up as the week goes on. I am hoping to get back outside for running by Wednesday.

ha ha ha thanks for the great review, and i totally know the 'i'm going to lose a filling' feeling. eeks! especially when running that makes it much harder to keep going, I can't chew, breathe, and run at the same time!

I've had the Clif Shot Bloks - they're okay. Kinda huge, so the lady at the running store recommended cutting them in half before heading out.

Personally, I can't chew on the run. I stick with my gels :)

Let me know what fabric line you were talking about once you find out. I am always game for more fabric:)

I just think you are doing great with your run. My hubby makes Alton Brown's protein bars. We don't put all the dried fruit in it if we don't have them around. A little bit of chocolate chips makes a big difference in the taste, too. You should check them out.

Sarah,

Ok...so you gained a 1/2#, don't worry it will be off in no time plus more. You are so dedicated. How do you eat and run? I have a hard time walking and talking at the same time. LOL

Also, I don't know how you eat those "good" for you snacks. Usually I find them to be bland and I have to tell myself they are good, does that happen to you?

I agree with joyRuN, I like the gels much more chewy things because I have to actually stop to eat those. I can run and eat the gels at the same time. My favorite gels are Gu, they have the perfect consistancy for me.

I've used the Clif shot bloks before and really like them. I usually bite them in half instead of sticking the whole thing in my mouth. They don't seem to get stuck in my teeth as much as Sharkies do. Way to go on the 8 pounds!

You're doing great with your weight loss goals! Don't let 1/2 a pound get you down... I think as women, our weight fluctuates simply from LOOKING at a batch of brownies.

The Cliff Shot Bloks are OK. They don't feel like they are going to yank out my fillings. In fact, they are a little too gooey for me. But then, it's warmer here so maybe they'd be more gummyish in colder temperatures.

Regarding your music- doesn't bother me. But I also never have the volume up on my computer. Your song choices look good to me! :D

12 inches of snow and counting!! The kids were off from school yesterday and Michael's office closed, which is NEVER does! Zach went out to play in the snow and he couldn't even walk in it because it was over his knees.

You are doing so well with your weight loss. I should be more dedicated, and there are times when I'm really good, but then there are the times when I just need that piece of chocolate, or ice cream. I tend to stress eat and it's been a long winter down here.

You're doing great with the weight loss-just keep looking at the big picture and don't worry too much about the little variations in your weight. I like the Shot Bloks. They are big, I cut them in half; and they're very gooey. But I think they help a lot with my longer runs. And I like your music. I vote that you keep it.

Since no one else has commented on the music, I will say I could live without it. It takes a lot of time to download so probably really hangs up people with a slow download rate. Half the time I start reading your blog, get surprised by the music, and then have to race down the page to turn it off. Bruce's is easier because it is at the top of the page so I see it and kick it off right away. It may just be me though...
