I took her out the other day and we ran 1.6 miles with 2 short walking breaks...she did great!!! The picture below is of a picture she drew of the 2 of us running. The other one is just before our run.
Anyone have any experience with kids training for a 5K?? Any advice for me???

That's awesome! I love her picture she drew. :)
that is DARLING!!! What a cute picture.
Love the picture she drew - so precious.
how cool!!! That's an activity that you and she can do forever!!!
how fun!! That is the cutest drawing. I love that she wants to run with you, I hope my kids are the same!
how cute! I cannot wait until mine are big enough to run longer than 47 seconds!
That is so sweet that she wants to do something her momma loves. It is awesome!
I think it is awesome that your daughter wants to run a 5K! Good luck to her:)
That's awesome! I wish my boys would run with me.
You did great. Giving her the breaks when she needs it is important. I have done many 5K races where moms are yelling at their kids instead of encouraging them. I just did my first 5K with my 12 year old and we had a blast.
That is great, that you both hare the same hobby!! Just make sure she has fun and enjoys what she is doing :)
awesome!
How cute! My husband and I run and it still hasn't instilled any kind of desire to run in either of my older boys. I have suggested it a couple of times to my 6 1/2 year old, but no dice. I am hoping one of these days the interest will be sparked.
Good for your daughter...how fun...and before you know it she will be outpacing you!
I love that your daughter wants to run with you! My kids haven't done a race yet, but they love to play "race" complete with high fives, and signs, and water stations!
your kids are beautiful
That's so nice... my son dusts me regularly at 5ks, but he's turning 14 this summer :)
My oldest daughter just turned 9. Her first was when she was 6. She has ran several 5K's now and 1 10K. FYI~No matter how much they beg, I don't recommend a 10K until much later :) She did great though I just don't want to risk injury. We just make it fun. Run when she can, try to keep the pace steady, walk when needed, and LOTS of positive reinforcement. I LOVE that she wants to run and want her to always enjoy it. I'm hoping to have a serious running buddy in the future.
