I won!!

I actually won a giveaway!!! Julie, over at Julie's Running Blog, hosted a giveaway and I won one of the smaller prizes. The package arrived yesterday and let me tell you, it made my day! Presents in the mail just rock!!

The package had everything below...a sweet card, 2 gels, beans and a Starbucks gift card, which will certainly come in handy, since I am there every day! Thanks Julie!! If you don't already follow her, check out her blog...I love reading it!

I have been to PT twice now for my back pain. After the first session of stretching, manipulation, modalities and taping, it felt great. Unfortunately I am allergic to the tape and have to stop that. By yesterday I had to stop a run after 2 miles. I was disappointed, but determined to stick with the treatment plan and my exercises.

I have been doing more cross training. I have a hybrid Trek bike and took it out for a ride today. I really enjoyed it! I need to invest in some gloves and cycling shorts. Anyone have any suggestions for the cycling shorts?? I am definitely a bike newbie.

Hi Sarah,
Oh good, I am happy to see that you did get it:)

I am sorry to hear about your back issues and hope that it feels better soon. I am also thinking about getting a bike for both cross training and possibly to give a duathlon a try:) Let me know what kind of bike that you decide to go with. I have not even started to look yet but would love any input/advice. I hope that you enjoy the rest of your week Sarah!

Congrats on winning the giveaway!

Sorry to hear that you are still having back issues...Hope that you feel better soon! Did they have another option for the tape to try that you might not be allergic to?

Congratulations on your prizes! It is fun getting things in the mail, we are just all little kids. LOL

Sorry to hear you are still having back troubles, I can honestly sympathize with you on this issue but haven't found a solution. PT actually gave me terrible headaches afterwards and so that had to stop. If you find something incredible for back pain I am all ears.

Have fun with the bike, we were just talking about getting out on ours and tootle about, the problem with this is the humidity ALL day/evening long and nasty gnats. Don't recall having this big of a problem with that when we were in GA.

Sorry to hear about your injury: they're a real bummer, but eventually it will be a distant memory. No advice for cycling shorts or gloves, but biking is always a great move!

And thanks for your comment on my last post. You are right, I have no idea how someone who seems to heel strike that much can run anything like a 1:42 half marathon. Some are just blessed with rubber bones and tendons of steel I guess!

I just got a new bike and have a pair of bike capris. You want lots of padding and I like pockets, too. Found mine on sale at REI. I wouldn't buy any that I couldn't try on first. Bought my gloves at Academy.

Hi Sarah~thanks for the comment on my race report. I am sorry to read that your back is giving your problems. I am going to try swimming this summer for cardio. ever consider swimming? take care and i hope you back feels better soon!

For bike shorts I'd go to a reputable bike or triathlon shop and ask them. Really, you just need to make sure you buy women's shorts (the padding is different!), but there will be different lengths, amount of padding, etc. There are also cute biking skirts (yes, skirts!) at skirtsports.com.

Get used to the feeling of carrying a load. Seriously. It feels like you have a big diaper on. :)

Enjoy! Hope your back feels better soon.
