Give Me the Simple Life

Some find it pleasant dining on pheasant.
Those things roll off my knife;
Just serve me tomatoes; and mashed potatoes;
Give me the simple life.
Now that school is out we have been able to slow down a bit around here. I purposely did not schedule much for this summer...some swim lessons, a 3 day vacation, and a 1 week morning camp for MissyMiss...that is about it. It has given us a great chance to enjoy the simple things in life, and the kids and myself are loving it.
Here are some of my favorite simple things:
- a good book and the porch rocking chair
- meatloaf and mashed potatoes
- the slip-and-slide on the front lawn
- a long walk on a breezy night
- the swings at the park
- soft serve ice cream
- a long run on a gorgeous day
- a beautiful drive to my favorite quilt shop
- garden fresh tomatoes
- backyard bonfires
- hometown parades
- strawberry picking
- hiking
- watching the kids splash in the pool
- hot dogs on the grill
- smores
We are all about the simple life over here. What are your favorite simple things?

I love my small fountain on my back porch (even tho the sound of running water makes me feel like I have to pee). I also love trips to the library, going out for coffee and watering my flowers.

I love me some Starbucks :)

Starbucks, we like to have when we travel, walks on a nice breezy day (it gets stinkin hot here in the south), playing with Mabry, reading and eating summer foods...yum!

I like to take bike rides with the kids, Mr. Softee ice cream trucks, and grilled food hot off the BBQ. Also having the windows open when it's breezy out and the beautiful smell of the summer breeze.

Definitely all of those things...

Though I don't drink coffee, I love the smell of freshly brewed coffee on my early morning run.

Enjoy a fun-filled by not hectic summer :)

My simple enjoyment right now is watching my kids sleep (I can't ever get tired of that!).

I love getting up at the crack of dawn and going out before the rest of the world has gotten up.

Or, buying my son an Italian ice, and then going for a walk with him on the boardwalk. That usually gets him talking and asking random questions.

Or, going fishing with him at dusk, watching the sunset and finishing up fishing in the dark.

Or, cooking a nice meal.

I was riding my bike with Sophie Sunday night at about 7:00 thinking that I just wanted to freeze that moment.

Oh, I love your list!!!! So many of my favorites as well. I LOVE the sound of a good book and my porch rocker! I'd have to add that I also love going for picnics, hiking, walking through the woods looking for bugs with Ian, blowing bubbles with Lily, and tending to my plants and garden. Gotta love summer!

school is just now out in July? wow, or maybe it's been out and you are just now posting this. anyway, walking in the park or at the lake with my puppies, walking in our woods, seeing the morning glories blooming just for me every morning put there by God to remind me to thank him and talk to him!
Many more things too...simple things are so important
