Brrrrrr....

It is officially FREEZING outside!! Today's high is 13 and tomorrow's will be 8!!

I am trying to stay positive about this weather. This is what I was thinking....

My new little nephew lives down in the much warmer south, where it surely will be warmer than 8 tomorrow. But...that cute little boy likely won't get to do much sledding or snowman building in the winter. One of the great things about where I live is that we have all 4 seasons.

In the winter we can enjoy sledding, ice skating, building snowmen, making snow angels, skiing and hot cocoa by the fire.

In the spring we enjoy watching the new flowers bloom, sunshine, walks outside, and trips to the park.

In the summer, it is the pool, running through the sprinkler, blueberry and strawberry picking, minor league baseball games, smores, BBQs, and picnics.

In the fall, pumpkin picking, apple picking, raking and jumping in piles of leaves, cool and crisp weather and beautiful foliage.

So...when it hits at least 20 degrees, we will get back to enjoying all of the wonderful snow.

What do you love to do in the winter???

We are not doing to much outside where I live right now it was -40degrees celcius outside this morning but usually we love snowmobiling, ice fishing, and roasting marshmellows and hot dogs over an open fire while ice fishing.

Oh...thank you for that! I posted today about how cold it was and how I was ready for Summer!

I do need to remember how beautiful and fun all the seasons can be here in Washington D.C.

Thanks for the great pics and post!

ps I came to you via "Rue's Peanut Butter and Jelly Life"...your blog is darling :-)

Hmmm, how about sitting by the fireplace with a blanket, blanket reading a good book. When I was in college we used to take sleds up into the canyons and ride down the canyon roads on them, we were crazy, but it was fun!

Oh, I hear you about it being so cold! It's snowing pretty hard here rigt now and I think this weather is going to derail my plans to head to the needlework shop tonight. Oh, well! I guess I will just have to go on Saturday! Have fun in the cold weather.

Yeah, as much as I complain about winter, the change of seasons is nice. I like to snowshoe and cross-country ski, but when it's this cold, all you can do is curl up in a ball by the space heater!

Winter in California-especially this year, is like this: We take the little sports car for a drive with the top down to the beach. Walk the pier, talk to the seagulls and pelicans, eat a picnic lunch in the shade under the pier because it's so hot. Go for ice cream or maybe shaved ice for dessert. it's shorts and tshirt weather right now!

Sarah,

I hibernate and read. When our girls were smaller we use to cross country ski and we also were living in PA. Now down here in GA there isn't much in the way of snow so our days are pretty much the same except we can't go swimming.
