My Trainer

I have been struggling to find something for cross training that also fits in with my stay-at-home mommy lifestyle. I don't belong to a gym, so I have to get a bit creative. I was complaining to my husband that it is too bad my little guy hates the bike seat we got for him, because I would love to get out on my bike more. My husband came home with a trainer for my bike today, essentially turning it into a stationary bike that I can do right in the family room or basement after the kids go to bed. Here it is:

I tried it out tonight and LOVE it! It was a great workout and will be perfect on my days off from running!

I must admit that yes, my bike is very dorky. From the kickstand, to the huge seat, to the bag on the front...it just screams dork. But, I have gotten to a point in my life where I just don't care...I love that bike! It is cute, has a very comfy seat and the bag on the front holds keys, phone, iPod, etc. My husband is a serious mountain biker and teases me about my bike mercilessly. I will never stop sticking up for me "baby bluey".

What an awesome idea! I am running out tomorrow to get one! Never would have thought of that, thank you!

How nice of hubby to do that for you. Happy riding.

It's great that hubby brought home the trainer for you, but tell him to stop teasing you your bike. I like it. We stay at home moms have to stick together!

Hey Sara - congrats! You may want to place a fan in the front if you get too hot. Also, if you find the front tire is too low and you want to even the bike out, there is a trainer accessory that you can buy to correct this (which is a bit more stable than what you may create for yourself) they are cheap and in most bike stores. check out the picture: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=16150&subcategory_ID=4122 Have fun!

The bike is very cool, great cross training idea! Once again, I stayed on your blog long after I read your post just so I could listen to the song-I think it's called "Come Away With Me"? Absolutely beautiful and a favorite of mine!
