Sick and Tired...

Things here have been rough lately...lots of sickness. There has been a bug going around my daughter's school. She was sick 2 weeks ago, then Bubby was sick last week. Both had a really high fever with it and Bubby is still dealing with the cough. Neither was tested, but it was probably h1n1. I managed to not get the fever, but have had an awful cough, which was been causing me trouble with my asthma, so no running for me this past week. I went for a walk yesterday and did o.k.

So..not much to report on this front. Once I feel like I am breathing normally again I will try back to running. I am missing it. I just got some new running shoes and have really been wanting to try them out...hopefully in a few days...

In happy news, I start my Christmas baking this week! Last year I baked and froze over 12 different kinds of cookies! Then just before Christmas I deliver tins of assorted cookies to neighbors, family, husband's work, etc. I am hoping to do 13 kinds this year and am thinking of posting some of my favorite recipes. Is this something y'all would be interested in??

Sorry to hear you guys are all sick! It always cycles through our house too :(

As for the recipes - I'd love them! Im a big collector of recipes with the intentions of always using them. I usually never do, but its nice to have something out there that encourages me to get my butt in the kitchen ... and a good recipe will do that!

I recall your writing about freezing cookies last year, and I've been interested ever since. Can you explain your process of freezing them? Are they frozen after being fully baked? How exactly do you do that? (Place batches in containers and then freeze? Free individually on cookie sheet and then put batches into containers in freezer?) I would love the nitty-gritty details so I can try this too! And yes, I always welcome more recipes!

New recipes are always welcome. I don't know with moving how much baking I'll get into this year, but there is always next year. I'll be lucky if I get baked our traditional cookies.

Hope your household is feeling better.

UGH! We've been hit with the crud too. I hope you are all healthy soon.

So, if I give you my address, will you drop a tin of cookies off at MY house? :)

I'd love to see your cookie recipes! I've never tried freezing cookies after baking them but my grandma always did that. And she always had YUMMY cookies!

FYI
My little girl(4yo) has Asthma. She started running a fever so I took her to the doctor. They tested her and said she had strept. I took her back the next day because she was still running high fevers and they said she now also had an ear infection. The next day I didn't like the way she was breathing so I took her to the ER. They did the rapid H1N1 test and an XRay and said she now had Pneumonia but the rapid H1N1 was negative. They admitted her and started her on IV antibiotics & oxygen. Her sats were in the 80's They did the overnight H1N1 test. The next day we finally found out she had H1N1 and they started her on Tamiflu. We could have lost her. It amazes me how it attacked her system with so many infections and was complicated by the asthma.
Just thought you might like another acount of H1N1 for a reference...

Hi, Sarah! I'm sorry to hear that the kids were sick, but it sounds like everyone is on the mend just in time for Thanksgiving!

I would be very interested in reading about your adventures in Christmas cookie baking. Let the baking begin!

Oh man. We had that same thing happen a couple of weeks ago - with both kids having asthma, I was a nervous wreck about the virus turning into pneumonia the whole time.

Thank goodness everyone bounced back pretty quickly. Everyone except me - I still have that cough, & it seems to have gotten worse again this weekend. BAH!
